President Tinubu Declares Apr 7 National Police Day, As CP Rivers Wins Best CP’s Award

President Bola Tinubu has declared April 7 as National Police Day.

He made the declaration through Vice President Kashim at the maiden award and commendations event organised by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in Abuja on Monday night.

Delivering the President’s speech titled, “Courage Under Fire: A Bouquet for Our Police Force,” VP Shettima said at a time in Nigeria’s history when the nation’s security architecture is being stretched beyond elastic limits, the citizens have been able to endure in the face of security threats as well as attacks on their lives and livelihoods due to the commitment of the police.

Meanwhile, the Rivers state Commissioner of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu has won the Command Commissioner of Police of the Year at the ongoing Nigeria Police Awards and Commendation Ceremony at the Congress Hall of prestigious Transcorp Hilton Abuja.

Speaking at the event, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olukayode Egbetokun said this award demonstrated the meritorious, guided principles that should shape everyday of personnel actions and decisions.

He said recognition will be given to discipline officers who diligently carried out investigations and prosecutions, whose meticulous attention to detail and unwavering pursuit of justice in our criminal justice system.
